Allentown, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/04/2019 -- Glass Pilot Columns are designed for use in pilot and production scale applications. YMC offers two types of Glass Pilot Columns: one for use with organic solvents (SR), and the other for use with aqueous buffers (AB). Glass Pilot Columns are suitable for all common methods of chromatography, including (but not limited to) normal phase, reversed-phase, or biochromatography.

For large scale purifications, glass columns are often preferred over steel columns, or even over PEEK-lined steel columns, because glass is less reactive, and is more easily deactivated, cleaned, and prepared for reuse. This is of particular interest in separations of biomolecules such as proteins, peptides, and monoclonal antibodies (mAb).

YMC Glass Pilot Columns benefit from high precision CNC manufacturing of plungers and distribution plates to provide outstanding flow distribution for a linear flow distribution profile.

YMC Glass Pilot Columns are available with inner diameters up to 600 mm and bed lengths up to 850 mm (custom lengths are also available). Precise and reliable bed height adjustment can be achieved by hand wheel adjusters on the plunger.

YMC Glass Pilot Columns are true pilot or production scale columns, suitable for operation up to 16 bar (230 psi). For higher pressure applications, YMC offers a complete selection of stainless steel alternatives.

YMC Glass Column accessories include a selection of plungers, frits, and column jackets suitable for column heating or cooling.

A variety of mounting options includes a fixed stand, wheeled trolley, or direct attachment to the customer plant. All materials are in accord with FDA guidelines and regulations; certification and full documentation are available for validation purposes.

YMC also offers smaller scale glass columns (ECO and ECOPLUS) for lab-scale and benchtop separations and purifications.

Stationary phase options include YMC's complete selection of reversed phase, normal phase, chiral, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, and size exclusion media.
